The 2025 vintage began with a relatively mild winter, interrupted by a temporary drop in temperatures toward the end of January. Subsequently, there was a progressive rise in temperatures until the second half of February. The temperature increase at the end of March led to a slight advance in vegetative resumption. Spring was characterized by a good distribution of precipitation and an overall temperate climate, favorable to the balanced development of the vine. During the summer, two periods of intense heat were recorded: the first in the second half of July and the second in mid-August, which influenced the ripening rhythms of the grapes. Harvest began at the end of August with the earliest varieties, concluding at the end of September with the harvest of the latest varieties.
Vin Ruspo is an emblematic wine of the Carmignano denomination and a cornerstone product of the company's historic production. The soils of Vin Ruspo originate from fine sandstones and calcarenites of the Sillano formation, with moderately deep composition, good presence of skeleton, and moderate water availability.
After harvesting, the grapes are transported to the cellar and treated with dry ice to protect them from external heat, preserve their aromas intact, and prevent any oxidations. They are then destemmed and sent to the press, where they are cooled again with dry ice to protect them maximally from oxygen. The cryomaceration period lasts about an hour and a half, and after very gentle pressing, the must undergoes a cold clarification phase for about 16 hours. Alcoholic fermentation occurs at controlled temperature to avoid dispersing aromas. At the end of fermentation, the wine remains on its noble lees for 2-3 months, during which periodic batonnage is performed: once a week in the first month, and then once a month to avoid over-oxygenating the wine.
Appreciated by aristocrats and poets, protected by the Medici with decrees guaranteeing its authenticity, loved by men of letters and artists, this wine is a timeless icon, witness to an excellence that knows no boundaries.
