Barco Reale DOC gets its name from the large hunting reserve created by the Medici for their own personal hunting activities. The reserve was surrounded by a long wall that delimited an area of about 4,000 hectares and some parts of which are still visible today. The DOC includes red and rosé wines and is characterized by territorial and pleasant wines that represent the younger alternative to the more important Carmignano.
